Application Parts:
- 5-10 page paper explaining my goals for the program, the history of Denmark and why it relates to me, and what I have done to prepare for the experience of study abroad
- two faculty/staff recommendations.
My Essay
discussed Denmark’s leadership in human rights (like being the first to ban slave trade and smuggling Jews to safety during WW II), compared and contrasted the governments of the United States and Denmark, and explained how my previous travel and classroom experience has prepared me for this study abroad opportunity.
Why I Chose Denmark
- have the opportunity to continue volunteering on an international level
- the program offers two international communications classes to better prepare me for international public relations work
- am able to live with a host family and become immersed in Danish culture
- to be stretched to new lengths, leaving my friends and family and Elon behind me
